There are no points, no badges, no leaderboards, no streak a student is afraid to break, and no notifications engineered to pull them back in.

What it means in practice

• No streaksNothing punishes a student for a day off, and nothing rewards opening the app without practising.
• No badges or pointsThere is no score to optimise, so there is no way to succeed at the app instead of at the instrument.
• No leaderboardA student is not measured against other students, which is not what a practice room is for.
• No engagement notificationsThe app does not chase anyone. It waits.
• A quiet screenThe interface stays out of the way, because attention spent on the interface is attention not spent on the horn.

Why it matters

The argument for these mechanics is that they drive engagement, and they do. They also teach a young player to practise for the reward — and a student practising for a badge stops on the day the badge stops mattering.

The intent here is the older one: that getting better is the thing that feels good, because that is the only motivation that survives a career.
