Scales and technique, mapped to The Whole Horn

Requirements are quoted verbatim from the two program documents. The free app practices the twelve major scales up to two octaves; the full range and the other scale families are in the Full Studio (one-time purchase).1

  • Commissioned by the saxophonist Cecil Leeson; Leeson and Creston gave the premiere at Carnegie Chamber Hall on 15 February 1940.9
  • Leeson received the score on 28 August 1939; publication was postponed to 1945 because of the war.9

  • The saxophone-and-piano edition, revised by Yann Ollivo, was published only in 2003.11
